Public Policy Board Member Introduction
When I was asked to serve as TAGS Public Policy board member, I jumped at the chance. Given the times in which we live, there is certainly no shortage of positions to advocate for, public policy positions to support or not, and information to disseminate.
However, for many of us just keeping abreast of the national dialogue is, at best, challenging. And this comes at a time when the policies we implement will have serious and far-reaching consequences for all of us – from striking a balance on budget deficits without harming the most vulnerable of our population, to ensuring that the impending wave of 78 million baby boomers does not wipe out the finances of future generations.
I believe that information is one of the key components to improving the lives of older America’s and in shaping public policy. To this end, we have added a page to our site that contains links to state, national, non-profit and industry organizations that advocate to improve the health and economic security of older adults. These organizations provide coverage on health care policy, politics and issues of aging on a statewide and national level. We hope you find this information useful and educational.
I look forward to providing articles of interest in the future and appreciate your suggestions.
